Continental Dialog on Nexus Africa 2014

At the receiving end of much of the world’s charity for the past few decades, Africa has turned the corner. Home to some of the most significant economic growth in the past few years, the African impact investing and philanthropic sectors are on the rise, with Africans, themselves, taking the lead.

What is the Continental Dialog on Nexus Africa of 2014?

On February 12th, 2014, Nexus Africa members and allies will gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, to discuss the future of Nexus on the continent. Building upon their launch in 2013, they explored the role of private equity investing in poverty alleviation, the rise of social entrepreneurship, the power of youth-led innovation, and more.

A full day of keynote presentations, facilitated discussions, and group exercises, concluded with the first Nexus Johannesburg Salon, a key dinner in a series of Nexus Salons to be planned around the continent in the future.

The event will was hosted by Wits Business School, the number 1 Business School in Africa. It brought together young wealth-holders, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists and social impact investors.

Nexus Africa seeks to inspire philanthropy and social impact investment in Africa by connecting philanthropists, donors and social impact investors to causes that involve education, health, job creation, youth development and environmental protection among others. The vision is to develop a prosperous Africa over the next 50 years.

Participation was by invite only. If you are interested in learning more, contact the Nexus Africa team at
